The Civitan Club of North Columbus was chartered in June 1955. We have been serving the Clintonville-Beechwold Community and Central Columbus for nearly 60 years, providing assistance to, among others, the most vulnerable citizens of the community - The Special Needs Community.

Our Mission is simple: To serve the local community with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities and to provide club members with  fellowship, community knowledge, personal development and networking opportunities.

 

Our Goal: Recruit dedicated community volunteers, civic leaders and local businesses to raise funds, support, develop, promote and participate in local service projects and awareness campaigns that benefit the special needs community and the less fortunate among us.

 

We sponsor or particpate in several Service Projects. These projects include:

 

• Whetstone Park of Roses Summer Concert Series

• Dr. Sam Rosen Scholarship

• Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center (CRC) Food Drives and Fundraisers

• Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO) Buddy Walk

• Ohio Summer Special Olympics Snow Cones

• Clergy Appreciation Night

• Adjutant General’s Department Special Children’s Christmas Party

• Clintonville Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt

• Clintonville Special Needs Fall Dance

• Pedal with Pete Cerebral Palsy Bike Ride

• Autism Speaks Walk

• The Adaptive Adventure Sports Coalition (TAASC) Family Day

 

Challenges and Opprtunities: Like most service organizations we are facing a shortage of volunteers and members. There is a very real possibility that the Summer Concert Series will end after the 2015 season. We will no longer be able to sustain the service projects above without continued support from the community. We can do so much more with your support. Please consider volunteering or becoming a member. We need:

Join the Civitan Club of North Columbus by filling out and submitting a Membership Application. Dues are $23 a quarter or $92 a year. The club will cover your dues for the first year if you're one of the first two people to join 2017. Your level of involvement in the club is entirely up to you. We usually meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at The Clintonville Women's Club from 6:30-8pm. Meetings are not mandatory.
